For our Italian friends!!

We wanted to say something in Italian .....
Cari nostri colleghi, allievi di Ipsia E. Aletti Cari nostri colleghi, allievi di Ipsia E. Aletti
L’Italia rappresenta il sogno di chiunque. Vi scriviamo ora qualche impressioni dall’Italia, Trebisacce.

Dove imparano a cucinare cosi bene!

Hello from Pizzerie Italiane e Scuola di Pizza from Tortora

Hello everybody!

I am Mr. Matellicano Francesco (in the picture on the left of the cooking teacher Domenico Guarino (at the centre) with my collaborators) the president of Scuola di Pizza of Tortora Marina (CS), born in collaboration with API (Associazione Pizzerie Italiane) the only branch of National School of Pizza for Calabria , but I am also the Vice President of API. We have long experienced training people for who wants to become a pizzaman. In fact the students that attended our courses have been hired by the most well-known Italian pizzerias that rely on us to recommend the best pizzaman.
I knew about etwinning projects and what they are about when the cooking teacher Domenico Guarino and the etwinning referent Teresa Costanza of Ipsia Aletti of Trebisacce (CS) upon request of the Headmaster Mr. Vincenzo Petrelli , asked me to hold a Stage for students of an international Pizza Torneo from 10 to 15 March 2008 that would have taken place at Trebisacce and that had been planned in their etwinning project “The pizza business across Europe “ of which the Ipsia Aletti is the coordinating school. I quickly accepted and with my collaborators Giuseppe Strati, Francesco Ricca and Franz Berardi we taught students and cooking teachers , as well, the different techniques referring to the pizza mixing, the pizza balls, the flattening of the pizza balls and the cooking method. On the 14th the students of Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Latvia made their pizzas at the Torneo competition held at the Roof Garden of Miramare Palace Hotel in Trebisacce. The pizzas made with the products of their country classified as follows: 1st place Portugal ( red and green peppers, tomato, tomato sauce, black olives, garlic, onion, and cod fish brought with them); 2nd place Romania ( tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, black olives, maize, green peppers and chilly ); 3rd place Latvia (sliced sausage, bacon, ham, mild paprika, mushrooms, tomato sauce); 4th place Hungary ( maize, red and green peppers, sliced sausage, onion and oregano). The gala dinner prepared by the students and cooking teachers of the restaurant and hotel course of Ipsia Aletti was superb! It comprised some dished of the French, Spanish, Norwegian and Italian cuisine of their Comenius project “ Influences, Trends and Creation in European Cooking”.
My collaborators and I are grateful to the Headmaster Vincenzo Petrelli for asking our collaboration and I am sure that the enthusiasm that the schools showed for the Stage contributed to the success of this etwinning Torneo. That means that we are working well in the whole Calabria region since we are making all our efforts to make the craft of Italian pizza known to students and to common people.
As a matter of fact the headmaster of the Romanian school and the etwinning referent of Hungary asked me to go to their school and hold a pizza course in November. This is a fact of our way of working!!! We in turn, during the gala dinner prize giving ceremony officially invited the schools that participated to the Torneo to take part to the Mediterranean Championship of Pizza Piccante that will be held in Scalea from 13 to 14 October 2008 at the hotel Santa Caterina .
I would like to thank the pizzerias that allowed us to give our classes at their place and other sponsors and that are: pizzeria“ La Bottega degli Antichi Sapori”, pizzeria“ Al Capolinea”, pizzeria “Mimmo e Cosimo” , " Gli Artigiani del Pane" the oven where we were welcomed like a family and showed students how they make pizza, "La Favella" where we had lunch. A special thank you to the Miramare Palace Hotel where the Torneo was held at the beautiful Roof Garden overlooking the sea!!
Give a look at our website where you will find an article of the Torneo event in Italian.
I asked a friend of mine to translate this in English and the etwinning referent, Teresa Costanza, to post my article on the blog that I found it fantastic. I am very happy that students held workshops in their schools!! That means that we worked well!!
There is also our magazine, Real Pizza, where there will be the article on the Torneo. We will post it shortly!!!

pizza workshop at D. Duarte school

Hi, guys!

This week (7-11April) my school is having a special time - the school and professional orientation week. Many schools and universities will be here showing their work; my school will also show our courses to potential students to secondary school next year.

As far as vocational cooking course is concerned, Tânia and Victor will be leading a workshop in pizza, next thursday. We hope everything goes well. It surely will, because we learn't a lot about it at Trebisacce.

We made a photo-reportage and a press-selection about our pizza torneo for an exhibition during this special week. Maybe I can post some pictures here after the event.

The whole school is very proud about our participation in the torneo. So happy we could take part in such a nice work!

Made for Europe

Dear teachers and colleagues,
after we arrive in Romania, we have participate to a contest called "Made for Europe" with final products made in European projects.
We are happy to tell you that our brochure called "The Fellowship of Pizza" won the third prize at the contest.
In this picture you can see the last page of the brochure and the page is called because we think that we, all the students we were in Trebisacce we are, indeed, "made for Europe".
Ana and Calin,
students
Romanian team

Dear friends,

The Romanian team wants to thank to all the participants to this wonderful pizza torneo, especially to the Italian team for their huge efforts.

You have a splendid city and you have demonstrated to all of us that a small (but nice, cosy and clean) city, a small comunity like yours - but with great hearts, can develop such a european project.

My students enjoyed (like teachers) all the time spend at Trebisacce (Teresa, can we come again?) and Ana said: "Teacher Alex, you'll see, I'll open a pizzeria!"

The students were welcomed like heroes here at school and in the comunity. To make pizza for the italians is something sensational!

We all have learned a lot from you; thank you dear friends from Trebisacce.

The project is not finished yet, we must create the virtual pizza so we will work together again.

And, don't forget, like Madalena said (hi, Madalena), I hope we'll meet in november in Cluj-Napoca!

Portuguese team thanks E. Aletti

Hi!
The portuguese team came back to Coimbra much richer after such a wonderful week at Trebisacce. I thank italian teachers for their great work.

We were received in our school as heroes. Pity it was holidaystime. But many students read the local newspaper and knew about our prize. They´re still congratulating us.

We restarted classes yesterday and Victor and Tânia related their good time in Trebisacce to their schoolmates. Everyone is anxiuos to meet you all in Romania in November. Let´s hope our Comenius project can be approved.

If so, we'll be very glad to receive you here in March next year. You'll se how beautiful Portugal is!

I think something up there is protecting us, because the whole team gathered in E. Aletti from 10-15 March was fantastic and always acted like a family. It has been a real european comunity!

Thank you all for everything!

Why the Torneo was a success!!!!

The torneo was a real success because students and teachers of the partecipating schools worked on pizza , a type of food that everybody likes and should you think some day of opening up a pizzeria be sure that you could make good earnings wherever you are. The collaboration of the members of the Pizzerie Italiane and Scuola di Pizza has been a very fruitful and precious one being they professional people who train pizzamen. The Stage- Torneo was a highly professional time for all people involved in it since the students got precious information on the ingredients to use, the right equipment you should have and the skills you should have acquired when you are going to make pizza. The involvemnent of the territory has been another winning card of our Torneo since pizzerias, public bodies (Municipality of Trebisacce, Comunità Montana) Consorzio delle Clementine IGP della Calabria and even a company dealing in iron The Eiffel building s.r.l. agreed to sponsor the Torneo.
The Pizza Stage by the local pizzerias that opened up their place and were at the disposal of the members of the Pizzerie Italiane and Scuola di Pizza, the friendly atmosphere created among students and teachers, the touring of the territory to discover uncontaminated places with people that still wait up in the mountains for visitors to come and get the chance to ask questions and start to communicate with a coffe at a bar, well, all what was planned by the program or impossible to plan like human being relatioships started among all the people involved in this event made of this Stage - Torneo a time to cherish for all of us!!

Torneo & music!

Hi guys, I'm Francesco, your Italian friend that played the consolle dj, at the gala dinner on 14/03/08 at the Miramare Palace Hotel… What was that prize giving cerimony like? I liked it very much. Since you left us everything is different, we missed your smile, your affection, your presence here with us… I hope to meet you soon again, I would like so much to spend other days like that evening to know each other better and spend some more time together … I forgot the name of the Hungarian friend that danced that night. It was amazing to see him dancing the folk dance of his country. You are very good and it was the first time I saw a typical folk dance from another country, from Hungary.Congratulations for what you did.I would like to hear from you. Francesco

The Torneo from my point of view!

The Multiethnic Etwinning concretized in March on the occasion of the Stage- Torneo planned in the etwinning project "The Pizza Business Across Europe". It's amazing the enthusiasm each of us showed by the desire to communicate that every day grew more and more and that from the linguistic point of view, it allowed us to work on our linguistic competence and that at the same time improved it. We were able to make comparisons and exchange ideas about the Stage activities and also about ourselves. From the very first day our European friends started to learn, thanks to the precious collaboration, availability and patience of the members of the Italian Association of Pizzerie Italiane e Scuola di Pizza, showing students and teachers and pizzeria owners step by step how pizza should be made, being always ready to solve any problems with the making and handling of the pizza dough. It's particularly remarkable the effords made by our friends from Romania, Latvia, Portugal and Hungaria in learning how to make a good pizza compared to what we the Italian students did since we are already acquainted with making pizza being it for the most of us a part time job in the pizzerias of the area and we wanted to give room to their creativity.
From this experience true friendships were born and that are getting stronger with daily contact on MSN with our friends from Portugal and Hungary. But that doesn't prevent me and my friends from starting communicating with those friends who were unable to come to the torneo.
I would like to meet on the blog or MSN the Russian, The Bulgarian, The Portuguese students from Aveiro who were not here.
This is an invitation for you to collaborate to the blog so to know something more about yourselves and about your school and the works you are carrying out . I hope to see you again . A hug for all of you, Carmen from Rocca Imperiale.
Here is a photo of the castle of my town that you couldn't see for the lack of time... :)
